Return to Kurdistan

Richard Wilding

Upper Waiting Hall, Houses of Parliament
23rd – 26th October 2017

Organised by Gulan and the All-Party Parliamentary Group on the Kurdistan Region in Iraq

Return to Kurdistan shows Iraqi Kurdistan and Northern Iraq in photographs by Gulan’s Creative Director Richard Wilding alongside historical photographs by Anthony Kersting.

This is a highly prestigious event for Gulan, and follows the referendum in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. We wish to thank Henry Smith MP for sponsoring the event and the All-Party Parliamentary Group on the Kurdistan Region in Iraq for their collaboration.

Exhibitions in the Upper Waiting Hall are for the information of members of both Houses of Parliament. Members of the public visiting a scheduled event in one of the Committee Rooms during this time will also have an opportunity to see the exhibition as they pass through.

We are arranging a number of exhibition tours on Monday 23th, Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th October. If you would like to attend one of these please let us know as soon as possible by replying to sarah@gulan.org.uk quoting ‘Houses of Parliament exhibition’.

Richard Wilding’s photographs explore the region’s ancient civilisation, its religious and ethnic diversity, history of persecution and renewal, and the current refugee crisis.

Anthony Kersting’s photographs from the 1940s, made available by the Courtauld Institute of Art, London, form an important record of the region’s minorities and historical sites that have recently been damaged or destroyed.
